PRIVATE COMPANY & GROWTH INVESTMENTS

Private Equity

The intelligence behind a well-informed investment ↗

Growth always comes with risk. The question is where that risk sits, how much of it belongs in the portfolio and whether the potential outcome justifies the capital and time required.

Private markets can provide access to companies and sectors long before they reach public markets. By the time a successful company reaches an IPO, a substantial part of its growth story may already have occurred. Nowadays, the private stage is where the larger multiples can emerge, alongside considerably greater uncertainty and illiquidity.

Stage
Entry point matters. Early-stage, growth-stage and pre-IPO opportunities carry different combinations of execution risk, valuation, dilution, liquidity and potential return. The stage of the company should be considered alongside the quality of the opportunity rather than treated as a label.

Growth
Private equity and private-market investments can provide exposure to businesses with significant expansion potential across technology, healthcare, infrastructure, consumer markets and other sectors. The attraction is participation in that growth before public-market access potentially changes the valuation landscape.

Risk
The potential for substantial growth comes with substantial risk.

Private investments can be illiquid, valuations may be less transparent than public markets and there may be no ready buyer when capital is required. An investment can lose some or all of its value. The allocation therefore needs to sit within the investor's broader liquidity and risk capacity.

Access
Many private opportunities have historically been accessible primarily through institutional networks, private equity funds and substantial private capital. Through our regulated and licensed partners, we provide access to a wider range of private-market opportunities and institutional asset classes that may otherwise sit outside the conventional open-market universe.

Diversification
Private equity can introduce exposure to companies, sectors and growth themes that may not be represented in a traditional listed portfolio. The relevant consideration is how the opportunity interacts with existing public equities, alternatives, property, cash and other private holdings rather than simply adding another asset class.

Exit
The eventual route to liquidity matters from the outset. An IPO is one possible outcome, alongside acquisition, secondary transactions or other corporate events. The investment should therefore be assessed on the underlying company's potential and the available exit pathways rather than assuming a public listing will occur.

Rather than “Could this company become the next big thing?”, the more useful question is:

Is the potential upside sufficient to justify the risk, illiquidity and capital commitment at this stage of the company's development?

That means considering the company's stage, valuation, growth thesis, sector, underlying business, liquidity horizon, exit possibilities and the position it would occupy within the wider portfolio.

Where regulated investment advice is required, we coordinate the appropriate licensed and regulated adviser for your jurisdiction at no additional cost. Strategin provides strategic consulting and coordination rather than regulated investment advice.

We bring together access to private equity and pre-IPO opportunities across a range of sectors and stages, with the institutional infrastructure required to assess where private-market exposure may have a meaningful role within a broader wealth strategy.

Because the public market is where everyone can see the story. Private markets are where the earlier chapters are written, with considerably more uncertainty attached to the outcome.
